Cancellation & Refund Policy
At Teacher and Task, we are committed to providing exceptional educational services that meet the needs of both our clients and instructors. To ensure transparency and fairness, we have established the following comprehensive Cancellation & Refund Policy. Please read carefully before booking any lessons or assignments. This policy is governed by the laws of Bangalore, India, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Bangalore.
1. Definitions
- “Service” refers to any tutoring lesson, group session, consultation, or assignment service (short‑term or long‑term) provided through our platform.
- “Lesson Booking” means the scheduling of live instructional sessions with a tutor or teacher.
- “Assignment Order” includes requests for written briefs, reports, or other academic deliverables created by our Externs Panel.
- “Handover” is the date on which completed deliverables or lessons are provided to the Client.
- “No‑Show” indicates a Client’s failure to attend a scheduled lesson without providing timely notice.
2. Cancellation by Client
If you wish to cancel a Service, please follow these guidelines:
- Lesson Booking Cancellations:
- Full refund available for cancellations made at least 12 hours before the scheduled lesson time.
- Cancellations made within 12 hours of the lesson start will incur a 50% cancellation fee, calculated on the lesson cost.
- No refunds or rescheduling credits are issued for No‑Shows without any notice.
- Assignment Order Cancellations:
- Full refund available if cancellation request is received within 24 hours of placing the order, provided no substantial work has commenced.
- Cancellations after 24 hours but before initial draft handover may receive a partial refund, subject to a 20% service processing fee.
- No cancellations or refunds are permitted once the final deliverable has been handed over to the Client.
3. Rescheduling Lessons
We understand that schedules change. To reschedule a lesson without penalty, please adhere to the following:
- Reschedule at least 6 hours before the original lesson time for a full credit toward a future lesson.
- Rescheduling requests made between 6–12 hours before the lesson incur a 25% fee.
- Rescheduling within 6 hours is not permitted; standard cancellation fees apply.
4. No‑Show Policy
A “No‑Show” occurs when the Client fails to attend a scheduled lesson and does not provide the required notice:
- No refund or credit is provided for No‑Shows.
- Clients with two or more No‑Shows within a 30‑day period may have their booking privileges temporarily suspended.
5. Multi‑Lesson Packages & Bundles
For Clients who purchase packages or bundled services:
- Refunds for unused lessons in a package will be calculated after deducting all applicable cancellation or No‑Show fees for completed or late‑cancelled lessons.
- Bundled packages combining lessons and assignments will apply each section of this policy to the respective components.
6. Refund Request Procedure
To request a refund or cancellation, please follow these steps:
- Log in to your Teacher and Task account and navigate to My Services or My Orders.
- Select the relevant lesson or assignment and click Cancel/Request Refund.
- Alternatively, email our support team at support@teacherandtask.com with your order ID, booking reference, and reason for cancellation.
- Provide any required documentation or feedback, particularly for refund eligibility under the 15‑day feedback window for assignments.
7. Feedback & Revisions
For Assignment Orders, clients have 15 days from the Handover date to submit feedback or revision requests. Failure to provide feedback within this timeframe voids any refund eligibility. Revision requests are addressed per our Revision Policy.
8. Refund Processing Timeline
Approved refunds will be processed within 14 business days to the original payment method. The exact timing may vary depending on banking and payment gateway procedures.
9. Cancellation by Teacher and Task
In rare circumstances—such as force majeure events, instructor unavailability, or platform issues—we may need to cancel or reschedule a Service. In such cases:
- Clients will be notified immediately and offered the choice of a full refund or a free reschedule at their convenience.
- If a substitute instructor is available, we will propose alternatives before issuing a refund.
10. Special Circumstances & Exceptions
We strive to be flexible, but certain conditions apply:
- Medical Emergencies: Documented emergencies may qualify for exceptions to standard cancellation windows; please contact support with official proof.
- Technical Issues: If a lesson is disrupted due to platform or connectivity failures on our end, we will offer to reschedule at no cost.
- Holiday Closures: Lessons booked during nationally recognized holidays may be subject to modified cancellation rules, as specified on our Holiday Schedule page.
11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
This policy and any disputes arising from it are governed by the laws of Bangalore, India. All disputes shall be resolved in the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bangalore.
12. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to modify this Cancellation & Refund Policy at any time. Updated versions will be posted on our website with a revised Last updated date. Continued use of our Services after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
